ABOUT ALPHA CHI OMEGA

Alpha Chi Omega was founded on October 15, 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Seven women with tenacious hearts and ambitious minds were inspired to form a women’s society: one that empowers and advocates for all during a pivotal time in women’s history. Forming only the tenth women’s fraternity in the country, our seven founders set progressive goals to pave the way for generations to come in a male-dominated environment. They chose the first letter in the Greek alphabet, “Alpha”, and the last letter, “Omega”, to form their name with “Chi” (meaning “and”). Alpha Chi Omega now serves over 230,000 women in more than 140 collegiate chapters and nearly 200 alumnae chapters nationwide.

WELCOME TO OUR CHAPTER!

When I first got to USD, I was immediately drawn towards the energy, empowerment, and authenticity that all the members of AXO carried around with them on campus. I remember thinking to myself that those were the girls I wanted in my corner.

Since joining, Alpha Chi has been a sanctuary for me to feel seen and supported for what felt like the first time since I left home. While I quickly learned it was a place where unique personalities are celebrated without judgement and a place where chaotic energy is embraced, I also learned it is a place where I can feel safe in having difficult conversations because this chapter is overflowing with girls who support and guide one another. This duality is what makes this chapter so special, and is a driving factor for why I felt compelled to give back to a chapter that has given me so much as Chapter President.

My purpose is to continue to foster our wonderful sisterhood and continue to show the USD community and beyond how we are a group of strong women who supports each other in everything that we do. Throughout my term I have seen a  beautiful resurgence of sisterhood that struggled through the pandemic. We have never been stronger as a chapter, and I am so excited to see what the rest of this year holds for us. I am ever indebted to the Kappa Lambda chapter for leaving an irreversible impact on my life, and allowing me to stay true to myself.

Loyally in the bond,

Erin Foley

The Kappa Lamda Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at the University of San Diego was founded in 2005 and serves over 120 members. Our chapter is composed of outgoing, compassionate, and diligent women who are go-getters, leaders, volunteers, scholars, and contributors to the wider community.

Alpha Chi Omega is proud to be one of seven Panhellenic chapters at the University of San Diego. Since its founding in 1949, USD’s Panhellenic community has continued to grow. We are grateful to be a part of an uplifting community of women where all Panhellenic members can be an advocate, supporter, or friend to one another.

Our members are leaders and proponents of positive change in the community. With involvement in over 50 different organizations, the women of Alpha Chi use their voices and talents for the benefit of those on and off of campus.
